About Alex Morgan
Fitness enthusiast, home gym builder, and the founder of AdjustableDumbells.net.
Hi, I'm Alex Morgan
I'm a dedicated fitness enthusiast and home gym builder who created AdjustableDumbells.net because I couldn't find a review site that actually tested the equipment — so I built one.
After over a decade of training, researching fitness equipment, and building multiple home gyms from scratch, I know what separates great fitness equipment from expensive disappointments. I bring that hands-on perspective to every review on this site.
My Background in Fitness
I got into fitness the hard way. In my early 20s I was out of shape and had no idea where to start. A pair of adjustable dumbbells — the only thing I could fit in my apartment — changed everything. Within a year I had transformed my body and discovered a genuine passion for home fitness.
That passion led me to spend years studying exercise science independently, following evidence-based training resources, and getting hands-on experience with dozens of equipment brands. I've trained a wide range of people — from complete beginners to those training for competition — and every one of them benefited from having the right equipment for their goals.
The wrong gear doesn't just waste money; it slows progress and kills motivation. That's why I take testing seriously.

Why I Started This Site
When I started shopping for home gym equipment seriously — particularly adjustable dumbbells — I ran into the same problem over and over: review sites full of affiliate-driven rankings, stock photos, and spec comparisons anyone could copy from the manufacturer's website. Nobody was actually lifting with the equipment they claimed to review.
I had the knowledge, the hands, and the training space. So in 2019 I started buying, testing, and writing honest assessments of every adjustable dumbbell I could get my hands on. What began as a personal blog became the site you're reading today.
Hands-On Testing Only
Every product I review has been physically used in real workouts. I don't review from spec sheets or press releases.
Affiliate Disclosure
This site uses affiliate links — I may earn a commission if you buy through my links at no extra cost to you. Affiliate relationships do not influence my scores or rankings.
Updated Regularly
Products change. Prices change. My reviews are revisited whenever a product is updated or new information changes my recommendation.
Written for Real People
I write for the home gym user, not the elite athlete. My recommendations account for budget, space, and realistic fitness goals.
How I Test Adjustable Dumbbells
Every dumbbell I review goes through a structured evaluation process. I don't just pick it up once — I put it through weeks of real training.
Unboxing & First Impressions
Build quality, packaging, included accessories, setup time, and first-touch feel of the materials and adjustment mechanism.
Exercise Battery
40+ exercises across every major muscle group and movement pattern — pressing, pulling, hinging, squatting, and isolation work at all weight settings.
Adjustment Speed Timing
I time how long it takes to change weights under realistic conditions (sweaty hands, mid-workout) at multiple weight increments.
Durability Stress Testing
Drop tests from standard bench height, repetitive adjustment cycles, and extended use over 4–6 weeks to assess long-term durability.
Reader Feedback
I incorporate feedback from readers with different body sizes, strength levels, and training backgrounds who have used the same equipment.
Value Assessment
Final score accounts for price, warranty, and long-term ownership costs — not just how the dumbbell performs on day one.
